Markets Are Up and Risk Is On

Welcome back to Life is Rich.

Before we dive in, we have a quick favor to ask you. If you’ve been enjoying Life is Rich so far, it’d mean the world to us if you could share it with just 1 person who you think would also like it.

Why did we even start this newsletter? Because the retirement system is broken and people need MUCH better options. And because the industry is sooo boring with little to no innovation in the last 50 years.

Savvly is here to shake up the $36 TRILLION untapped retirement industry with our market-driven pension. By sharing this newsletter with a friend, they’ll get interesting, curated, and cool articles around all things that make life rich.

The Nasdaq 100, Dow Jones, and (our favorite) the S&P 500 all reached new all-time highs this week, despite the persistent fears about inflation and delayed interest rate cuts. Investors have been reassured by recent economic data, including Wednesday’s report showing U.S. consumer prices slowing more than expected last month.

It’s important to note the stock market is not the economy, and big moves can be prone to over-interpretation. That said, we’re still pumped to see it.

Assets like bitcoin and meme stocks have also soared, which are often seen as a key measure of risk appetite. If you missed our post on alternative investments, check it out. We dive into the risk-reward tradeoff of crypto and other alternatives that are making waves.

The classic lessons from the Blue Zones can help guide us there — and Savvly can help make sure we have the financial resources to make it through those years.

The Best Places to “Retire Abroad”

We’ve all heard about studying abroad, but there’s a big trend in retiring abroad. Many people are retiring early and trading their regular lifestyles in the U.S. for a more affordable location in the world. The 2024 Annual Global Retirement Index put together the world’s best retirement destinations in its annual report.

Colombia, France, and Malaysia are on the list. See what other countries rank here.

Reversing Ovarian Aging

Female fertility decreases relatively quickly in life, often too quickly for many women. That’s why multiple research groups are taking various angles to better understand and ultimately help reverse the aging ovary problem. In a breakthrough study on middle-aged female rats, they were able to correct age-induced ovary abnormalities. This is good news for future testing of delaying ovarian aging in humans.
